WHO IS BEHIND THE COMPETITION?
The competition was devised by Enterprise
Lowestoft, an organisation set up by a group of ex-teachers to assist
schools through enterprise.
In 2008, Enterprise Lowestoft approached Arup, the global firm of
designers, engineers, planners and business consultants, to create
the schools resource pack and supply other expertise to support
for the competition on a pro bono basis.
The Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) subsequently
agreed to sponsor the competition, which is also supported by the
Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).
About Enterprise Lowestoft
Enterprise Lowestoft cic (EL). EL - one of the first community interest companies established in England – is dedicated to raising the aspirations and enterprising outlooks of young people. In particular, the major purpose of this groundbreaking Community Interest Company is to assist schools in finding solutions to address the Enterprise Agenda. EL does this with the involvement of local and national businesses, and working with EL can result in schools achieving the nationally accredited Excellence in Enterprise Education Award from Warwick University. EL works in partnership with the Make Your Mark campaign running the East of England Enterprise Hub (for further details see www.makeyourmark.org.uk).

About The Department for Children, Schools and Families
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), created in June 2007, aims to make this the best place in the world for children and young people to grow up.
For the first time, children, young people and their families have a voice at the heart of government.
The Department’s role can be summed up as leading the whole network of people who work with or for children and young people.
To do this, we put the needs and views of families, children and young people at the centre of everything we do.
Parents tell us that there are more opportunities for children and young people than ever before, but that they want more support.
We know that children are doing better than ever in school, but we need to do more to ensure that every child gets a world-class education.
Building on over a decade of reform and results, we have drawn up a Children’s Plan. For more information please visit: www.dcsf.gov.uk
